If you are a blogger or want to be a blogger, you have a lot of options out there.  Google and Yahoo both offer free platforms you can use.  After just a few simple mouse clicks, you can be on your way to blogging heaven.  I use WordPress as my platform and host my site through Host Gator.  For some seriously cheap dollar amount that I can’t even remember now, I can have all of my web and blog sites sitting safe on their servers with basically unlimited email accounts, statistics tracking, and all other kinds of bells and whistles.  I highly recommend them and could probably make some sort of commission off doing so if I knew how to run those affiliate programs correctly (I’ll learn some day!).  Right now they have some sort of promotion going on (until August 1, 2009) – if you use the word “BEACH” in your signup, you get 20% off.  Sweet!

Word to the wise, if you go with one of the free blogging sites, you could lose your content some day if you ever decide to switch and go elsewhere. Why would you switch?  Well, you may want to start putting ads on your site or start selling cool stuff from your site (like a book you wrote for instance! or a cool T-shirt you designed!) and with those blogging sites you generally can’t do that.  If you’re hosted with Host Gator or one of the other similar hosts, you can do just about anything with your site.

WordPress themes are made by graphic artists who also know CSS and HTML code (well beyond my abilities), and there are literally thousands of free ones out there.  My site is one, in fact!  Even if you’re new to blogging, the tech support at your hosting provider can walk you through getting a WordPress blog up and running in fairly short order.

Regardless of how you do it, I highly recommend blogging to anyone out there.  Blog about your life, blog about your business, blog about your inventions, blog about your kids, your travels, your favorite books, whatever!  Someone out there will want to read your stuff; and if a lot of people out there want to read it, you could earn an income from your blogging.  Now wouldn’t that be seriously cool?

What does the reading public want to read about? Well, I guess that depends on a lot of things, like whether we’re talking about teenagers or middle-agers, those in lower income brackets or the jet set, or even men or women. But there are some topics everyone wants to read about, regardless of who they are and where they’re from. What are they? Well, here’s a short list:
