TOEIC – Test of English for International Communication

The TOEIC Preparatory Courses are offered in group format 2 times per year.  The course is a 60-hour, 4-week program.  Classes meet each day for a week, Monday-Friday, 3 hours per day.

We utilize textbooks designed to enhance our students’ ability to increase their  English proficiency and learn critical thinking skills, so they can be more effective TOEIC test-takers.  Students are given a minimum of 2 practice tests per week to gauge their progress under simulated test conditions.  Classroom, online, and computer testing simulation are included in this course.

Fee for the TOEIC Preparatory Courses in 2011 is €850 and is subject to our standard rules and disclaimers.

The following information is taken from the ETS TOEIC website:

Since 1979, organizations around the world have used the TOEIC® test to hire, place and promote employees. The TOEIC tests:

  • Help businesses build a more effective workforce
  • Give job seekers and employees a competitive edge
  • Enable universities to better prepare students for the international workplace

Organizations and job seekers around the world trust TOEIC scores to help them get ahead of the competition.

For more than 30 years, the TOEIC® test has set the standard for assessing English language skills used in the workplace. Today TOEIC® test scores are used by more than 9,000 companies, government agencies and English language learning programs in more than 90 countries, and more than 5 million TOEIC tests were administered last year.
Workplace assessments that meet business needs

TOEIC test questions simulate real-life situations that are relevant to the global workplace. Score reports provide accurate, meaningful feedback about a test taker’s strengths and weaknesses, along with a description of the English language strengths typical of test takers performing at various score levels. This allows employers to:

  • Relate test scores to the tasks employees may perform on the job
  • Use the descriptions to inform critical hiring and placement decisions
  • Select the employee with the English-language abilities the job requires

Additionally, ETS’s ongoing research helps ensure that the TOEIC tests are accurate and relevant to today’s changing global workplace, which helps internationally competitive companies hire, place and promote the right candidates year after year.
Standardized testing means reliable results

TOEIC test scores provide accurate, reliable measurement of English proficiency — they can be compared regardless of where or when the test is administered. For example, last year’s scores of a test taker in Japan can be compared with this year’s scores of a test taker in Korea. Because test takers of any background can be compared fairly, companies can use the TOEIC tests to make the most informed decisions and build a more diverse workforce.
Equal opportunity for all test takers

ETS ensures standardized test conditions give test takers equal opportunity to demonstrate proficiency.

  • Test administrations adhere to strict guidelines to ensure a consistent and fair test-taking experience
  • A scoring process held to the highest quality-control standards results in the most reliable and valid scores available.

TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language

The following information is taken from the ETS TOEFL website:

The TOEFL® test (Test of English as a Foreign Language™) is the most widely respected English-language test in the world, recognized by more than 7,500 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries. Wherever you want to study, the TOEFL test can help you get there.

You can take the TOEFL test at your choice of more than 4,500 conveniently located test sites in more than 165 countries worldwide. You also save time and money since the entire test is given in one day, rather than coming back a second day like some other tests.

The TOEFL test helps prove you have the English skills you will actually use in an academic classroom. In the test, you may read a passage from a textbook and listen to a lecture and then speak or write in response, just like you would in a classroom. Because the test is composed of 100% academic questions and tasks, many universities consider it the most appropriate test to use when making admissions decisions.

Sure, you can take a test with a Speaking interview, but what if your interviewer has a bad day and rates you lower than you deserve? With the TOEFL test, there’s no doubt your score is more objective and reliable, because Speaking responses are recorded and evaluated by three to six ETS raters rather than only one rater from a local testing site.

TOEFL test scores help you stand out because of the TOEFL test’s reputation for quality, fairness and 100% academic composition. It is the most widely accepted English-language test in the world, including more than 7,500 colleges, universities, agencies and other institutions in 130 countries. And that list includes the top 100 universities in the world.

By sending TOEFL scores to your selected university, you will be proving that you are ready for academic success.

Before you register or prepare for a TOEFL test:

The TOEFL test is offered in two formats: the TOEFL iBT™ Test, in an Internet-based format, and the original Paper-based Test (PBT). The format you take depends on the location of your test center, so your first step is to decide where you will take the test.

About the TOEFL iBT™ Test

The TOEFL iBT™ test, administered in an internet-based format, is an important part of your journey to study in an English-speaking country. In addition to the test, the ETS TOEFL Program provides tools and guides to help you prepare for the test and improve your English-language skills.

The TOEFL iBT test measures your ability to use and understand English at the university level. And it evaluates how well you combine your listening, reading, speaking and writing skills to perform academic tasks.

There are two formats for the TOEFL test. The format you take depends on the location of your test center. Most test takers take the Internet-based Test (iBT). Test centers that do not have Internet access offer the Paper-based Test (PBT).

Each year, nearly a million individuals of all ages take the TOEFL test to demonstrate their English-language proficiency.
